Discover Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort: A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Walt Disney World

Alex Perry • 17 May 2025
When it comes to choosing a Disney Resort, it’s easy to be dazzled by the over-the-top theming of Value Resorts or the luxury and convenience of the Deluxe options. But nestled beautifully in the Moderate Resort category is a true hidden gem that deserves more love — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. And if you ask me? It’s one of the most underrated stays on property.

Let me take you through why I adore this resort and why I always recommend it to guests who want a balance of comfort, style, and a little Disney magic sprinkled in.

🌴 A Resort That Feels Like a Holiday Within a Holiday
From the moment you arrive at Coronado Springs, you’re swept into a tranquil, sun-drenched setting inspired by the rich cultures of Spanish, Mexican and Southwest American architecture. Palm trees line the walkways, there’s a peaceful lake at the centre, and the whole resort just feels... relaxing.

Despite being part of the Walt Disney World Resort, Coronado Springs has a wonderfully grown-up feel — perfect for couples, families with older children, or anyone looking for a bit more serenity after busy park days.

🏨 The Stunning Gran Destino Tower
In 2019, Coronado Springs levelled up in a big way with the addition of the Gran Destino Tower — and it’s nothing short of breathtaking.

I stayed here recently, and honestly, it felt like a Deluxe Resort experience without the Deluxe price tag. The rooms are modern and stylish, there’s a beautiful lobby with intricate detailing, and you even get stunning views from the upper floors — some even look out over Hollywood Studios!

If you’re after a touch of luxury and convenience (think elevators and indoor corridors — rare in Disney Moderates!), Gran Destino is 100% worth it.

🍽️ Dining Delights from Tapas to Tacos
Let’s talk food. Because if you’re anything like me, where you eat is just as important as where you stay!

Coronado Springs boasts one of the best dining line-ups of any Moderate Resort:

Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood: Located at the top of Gran Destino Tower, this rooftop restaurant is perfect for a date night or special occasion. The food is incredible, and the views? Wow.

Three Bridges Bar & Grill: Set right in the middle of the lake, this open-air restaurant is pure holiday vibes. It’s casual, scenic, and the sangria is a must!

Maya Grill: A more traditional Mexican-inspired sit-down restaurant that’s great for families.

Plus a massive Quick-Service location, Café Rix, and even a sports bar – so there’s something for everyone.

If you're visiting during a free dining offer, Coronado Springs is often included with the Quick-Service Dining Plan – giving you two meals a day, snacks, and a refillable mug. It's brilliant value.

🏊‍♂️ Pools and Play for Everyone
Coronado Springs has one of my favourite feature pools on property – The Lost City of Cibola Pool, affectionately called The Dig Site. It’s themed around ancient Mayan ruins, complete with a 50-foot pyramid, water slide, hot tub, and a splash zone for little ones.

There are also three leisure pools dotted around the resort if you prefer something quieter. Whether you’re looking for fun or relaxation, you’ve got options.

🚍 Getting Around is a Breeze
Coronado Springs is located in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area, but it’s actually really well-positioned for access to all four parks. There’s a dedicated Disney bus service to each park, and I’ve always found the service here to be efficient and reliable.

Unlike some larger Moderates, Gran Destino Tower has its own bus stop, which is a big bonus for convenience. No long walks with tired little legs!

💡 Why I Recommend It to My Clients
As a Disney travel expert (and ex-Cast Member!), I’ve been lucky enough to stay at every resort on property. But Coronado Springs stands out for its value, quality, and atmosphere.

It’s ideal for:

Couples looking for something a little more refined

Families who want space and amenities without stretching to Deluxe pricing

Guests who want great dining on-site

Anyone booking during the Free Disney Dining offer (especially as this resort is often included!)

And of course, when you book your holiday through me at Your Fairytale Holiday, you’ll also receive a $100 Disney Gift Card as a thank-you – perfect for spending on those irresistible Mickey-shaped treats or souvenirs!

Ready to Stay at Coronado Springs?
Whether you're dreaming of your first Disney holiday or your tenth, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is absolutely worth considering. It’s calm, beautiful, and filled with hidden treasures — and I’d love to help you plan your perfect stay.

📩 Just drop me a message, and I’ll take care of every magical detail – from flights and tickets to dining and discounts.
